What happens in a private lesson?


Private Functional Integration lessons are the fastest way to address limited movement and habitual tension. If you’ve tried everything else for back, hip, shoulder, or neck pain without relief, I get it. I’ve been there myself. I can show you gentle, safe ways to reverse patterns of chronic muscular tension that actually work.

You have the means within yourself to return to an active, joyful, movement-filled life.

How it works

Each lesson addresses your specific needs, history, and habits. First, we’ll establish a baseline by assessing your fundamental patterns. Then we’ll look at how you stand, sit, walk, reach, balance, bend, turn, grip, or any other function you want to improve and do better.

The lesson itself involves lying down fully clothed on a low table. I work with your nervous system through gentle touch and slow movement to release chronic tension. It is neither invasive nor painful.

Throughout the lesson, I will offer articulate, clear alternatives to painful, inefficient habits. You will leave with customized tools you can use at home to let go of recurring tension. Continuing self-care reinforces what you learn and supports long-term improvement in balance, posture, and pain relief.

How to approach this process

Many of my clients—including me!—make Feldenkrais a lifelong practice to stay mobile, flexible, and resilient.

Some do it daily just to be able to walk. Others practice so they can keep playing guitar, continue cycling, riding horses, running, or getting onto the floor to play with grandkids.

I invite you to think of Feldenkrais as a training. Relearning to move is a path and a practice. Like psychotherapy, martial arts, getting in shape, changing your diet, or any other pursuit that yields greater well-being and vitality, the time and investment you put in is linked to your results.

For maximum benefit, I recommend committing to some kind of regular Feldenkrais practice for at least three months. (Consider how long it took you to develop these habits!)

My mission is to provide you with tools to take care of yourself so you can access easy, comfortable movement throughout your life.

Improving a specific issue might take between four and twelve lessons. Severe situations—recovery from injury, relearning to walk—may require more. After the first consultation, we will decide the best way forward for your needs and lifestyle.

As each lesson builds on the last, it works best to do a series of lessons close together at the beginning to reinforce the learning.

Initial lesson ($170, 90 minutes)

  • Initial interview and movement assessment

  • Hands-on lesson

  • Customized movement sequences to practice at home

  • Two free audio lessons

One follow-up lesson ($120, 60 minutes)

All sales final.

Missed appointments and cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged for that session. You will also be charged if you erroneously booked an appointment using the online scheduler as this still blocks off my time.
